Administrative and teacher leaders who choose to be a part
of the Leadership Team are often people who tend to read and
stay abreast of educational research and literature. The summer
months are an ideal time to take advantage of that tendency
and use it to move the school further toward attaining its
goals. The team can form a Summer Study Group and agree on
a book or two as summer reading. Working either on-line (e-mail)
or at summer social gatherings, team members can read book(s)
and prepare 2-3 key questions for an assigned chapter. Once
questions are shared, team members can e-mail responses for
compilation. If members are able to meet in person (which
will have a more meaningful impact on shaping relationships),
each person can present a chapter and the team then discuss
questions and record responses in their journal.
