Module 4. Evaluating Change: Reflection and Celebration - Continuous Improvement

Module 4 Evaluating Change

4. Plan an Annual Celebration of Faculty and Staff Learning

Celebrations of success are important and acknowledging efforts of staff throughout the school year, both informally and at faculty meetings, should be ongoing. An opportunity exists however, to build a tradition of celebrating important milestones and professional growth through an annual Celebration of Learners.

Learning Teams should prepare display boards with their goals, strategies, data, student work samples, and results. Food and music are provided, and teachers from various grade levels are able to circulate, see, and discuss what other teachers are doing. A program is published for the event with team members' names and their goals. Parents may assist with the arrangements and learn about the faculty's efforts to improve achievement. This event provides reflective closure for the year and lays the foundation for continuing improvement in the year to come.
