Success builds on success. But successes need to be identified
and assimilated into the Leadership and Learning Teams. The
moments of pause that accompany the recognition of a positive
development compel reflection and celebration. Leaders and
team members alike may reinforce relationships, commitment,
and a collective sense of purpose if the reflective process
is used more fully and successes acknowledged with celebration.
Traditionally, the teaching profession has not been defined
by a collective capacity for peer feedback and reflection.
Leaders must, therefore, nurture this capacity and, in the
process, help to create a new definition for what it means
to be a professional teacher. A commitment to time for reflective
faculty activities may act as a significant change agent
for faculty culture.
The activities in the following section identify four critical
steps in evaluating change for Immediate Results:
- Assess Action
Goals
- Assess Strategic Goals and Refine the Vision
- Write an
Individual Synopsis in Reflective Journal
- Publish Your School
Learning Teams’ “Best
Practices”
Next: 1. Assess Action
